A Portent of Springs to Come

Here comes the sun, doo da doo doo
Here comes the sun, and I say
It’s alright!

Spring is definitely in the air in Jordan. I saw my favorite first sign of spring a few days ago, the roadside seasonal gardening shops full of colorful flowers. I decided to dig up some pictures from last spring’s trip to Baqaa, where you can find nursery after nursery and flowers galore.

A view of one of the greenhouses in Bagaa.

An open spot in the ivy, waiting for a new flower!

Time for a new pot.

.

Reminder to self, get some pretty flowers for the base of the tree.

My husband and Layali waiting impatiently. It's time to go to Bagaa, where they have many nurseries with flowers, trees, and shrubs.

Layali donning her mandatory hat. (She decided to play hairdresser which she later regretted.)

Another greenhouse.

We didn't buy these. But aren't they gorgeous?

.

We didn't buy these. But you can get 10 for a dinar (about $1.40) I am going to sneak these in when my husband isn't looking.

.

The man said these are African daisies. I like them!

.
.

Got a bunch of these! They are moss roses and lasted until October.

.

.

Didn't buy these either.

Now THIS is a flower bed! Literally! It's the bed of our car on the way home.

.

And here is a happy Layali. We like flowers!

.
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes!

By the way, these pictures were taken in May of last year. It’s not even March, but it certainly feels like spring. I wonder when we should get our garden going this year.
