I thought I’d make the kids pancakes for breakfast. They wanted waffles. Not to be defeated, I came up with these.

As much as I hate Eid shopping, I must say I enjoyed myself this week looking at the window displays of what is passing as fashion in Amman these days. I snapped some pics and added links for my own amusement. I hope some of you get a chuckle out of them as well.

Mrs. Chips Tortilla Lasagna

Oh, these hot days of summer. They make a lady want to run out of the kitchen as fast as she can. But the kids want lasagna, so why not do what Mrs. Chips did and make this delicious lunch with minimal effort on your part?

1/2 kilo ground beef

1 can pinto beans, drained and rinsed

1 box tomato paste

1 1/2 cup water

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon oregano

1/8 teaspoon red pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 large bags Mr. Chips Nacho Cheese Tortilla chips (160 g)

2 small containers Zabadi with cream

1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Brown ground beef in large frying pan. Add spices and saute for one minute. Stir in tomato paste. Add beans and water.

In a greased rectangular Pyrex dish, empty one bag Mr. Chips Nacho Cheese chips. Pour beef and bean mixture on top.

Bake uncovered for 30 minutes.

Remove from oven. Top with zabadi, chips and finally grated cheese.

Return pan to oven until cheese has melted.

Enjoy!

Okay, this will never go viral, but it entertained me and anyone who ran across it on my facebook wall for a couple of days. I just wanted to post it for posterity’s sake. Every day I’m chucklin’. Hey, that could be my new catchphrase. Hmm.

First, my little plagiarizer of a daughter (Kidding, I love you babe. Babe? Babe! BABE!) posted this for me:

Roses are red,
Bacon is also red,
Poems are hard.
Bacon.

Then my nephew (let’s call him Joe Doe to protect the not so innocent) posted this version:

Roses are red,
violets are blue,
John Doe* and Jane Doe* are now my friends.
Bacon.

Another nephew couldn’t resist and posted this:

Trees are green.
The sky is blue.
I enjoy eating pizza.
SPAM™!!!!

And I wrote this:

The sky is yellow.
The grass is blue.
Ask the blind man.
Hot dog.

Nephew one’s rebuttal:

Roses are black,
violets are black,
I think I’m going to go cry now..

And some random guy I don’t know commented this (It’s a good one, so I had to include it).

While surfing on the web today, I found an interesting way to whittle away 10 minutes of my time from today’s post from Buzzfeed entitled Find Out Where You’d Be If You Dug Straight Through The Earth. I found out that there would be no more surfing on the web, more like a lot of sailing on the sea smack dab in between Australia and South America.
